“All who seek the roots of life dig in solitude for them.” - Bjerregard

This sweet little cobbler gnome may look like he’s sitting at the surface, working on a shoe, but he’s actually just on a break from his project of digging for the roots of life. Or maybe he’s just planning to get started…someday? In any case, I loved this big fat root image and liked the idea of it pushing its way all the way down down down past layers of history and the accumulated detritus of memory to almost but not quite reach the hidden key to the origins of it all.

Box:  found box

Materials:  miniature ceramic gnome; piece of bark; miniature shovel; art papers; beads; shells; rusty key; red thread; cut paper, broken sticks.
